1 Purpose and Functions
The high-quality ACTii AC8462 electric heater has been designed for the efficient heating of domestic hot water (DHW) in tanks, boilers, and heat exchangers with capacities ranging from 50 to 200 litres. The device is optimized for direct cooperation with renewable energy systems, such as photovoltaic (solar) panels and wind turbines.
A key feature of the device is that it is equipped with three independent heating coils of 300W each, placed in a single brass flange. This design allows for flexible power management by bridging the coils or connecting them independently, which is particularly important in systems with variable power output. The heater is characterized by its power supply versatility – it can operate on both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC).
Main features:
- ✔ Flange made of high-quality brass (5/4")
- ✔ Robust construction ensuring long service life
- ✔ Three independent heating coils enabling power configuration
- ✔ Heating element made of SUS304 stainless steel
- ✔ Compatibility with 24V photovoltaic and wind systems
- ✔ Gasket included, ensuring immediate readiness for installation
Connection configuration:
The device has three separate heating circuits. They can be connected in parallel to obtain the full 900W power at 24V, or powered from separate sources (e.g., three separate sections of photovoltaic panels), which allows for gradual water heating depending on available sunlight or wind strength.

3 Installation and Connection Instructions
Installation steps:
- Tank preparation: Before starting installation, ensure that the DHW tank is emptied of water below the level of the mounting hole.
- Mechanical assembly: Place the included gasket on the brass flange of the heater. Screw the heater into the 5/4" (1 1/4 inch) hole of the tank. Tighten with appropriate force using an adjustable wrench, being careful not to damage the brass thread.
- Electrical connection:
- Identify the terminals of the three heating coils.
- In case of powering from a single 24V source with high current capacity, bridge the appropriate contacts to connect the coils in parallel.
- Ensure that the cross-section of the power cables is suitable for a current of up to 37.5A (at full power 900W/24V).
- Tightness check: Fill the tank with water and check if there are any leaks at the flange mounting point.
4 Safety and Operation
WARNING: Never turn on the heater when the heating element is not completely submerged in water. "Dry run" operation will lead to immediate burning out of the coil and voiding of the warranty.
- • The device must be grounded in accordance with applicable electrical safety standards.
- • Installation should be performed by a person with appropriate electrical qualifications.
- • Use appropriate overcurrent protection in the DC/AC power circuit.
- • Regularly check the condition of electrical connections – high current intensity at low voltage (24V) promotes heating of contacts if they become loose.
- • In regions with hard water, regular descaling of the heating element is recommended to maintain high efficiency and prevent overheating of the SUS304 steel.
5 Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Heater is not heating | No supply voltage or blown fuse. | Check the power source (panels/turbine) and circuit continuity. |
| Low heating efficiency | Scale on the heating element or only one coil connected. | Clean the heater of sediment or check the coil bridging. |
| Leakage at the flange | Improperly seated gasket or insufficient tightening. | Tighten the flange or replace the gasket with a new one. |
