ACTii AC4333

1 Purpose and Functions

The ACTii JACK 6.3mm Stereo plug (model AC4333) is a professional, passive audio connector designed for assembly on signal cables. The product was designed for creating and repairing audio cables used in sound systems, musical instruments (e.g., guitars, keyboards) and studio equipment. Thanks to the use of a durable plastic housing and a flexible strain relief, the connector ensures durability and protects the cable against mechanical damage, such as tearing or excessive bending.

Main features:

  • ✔ Standard JACK 6.3mm (large Jack) plug in Stereo version
  • ✔ Durable housing made of high-quality black plastic
  • ✔ Integrated strain relief protecting the cable against kinking and tearing
  • ✔ Cable assembly requiring soldering, which ensures the highest quality of the electrical connection
  • ✔ Universal application in professional and amateur audio systems
  • ✔ Compliance with European safety and environmental protection standards (CE, RoHS)

Assembly information:

The product is a component intended for self-assembly. It requires basic soldering skills and appropriate tools (a soldering iron). The stereo connector supports two signal channels and ground, which allows for transmitting a balanced or two-channel unbalanced signal.

3 Assembly and Soldering Instruction

To ensure correct operation and durability of the connection, please follow these steps:

  1. Preparing the housing: Unscrew the plastic plug housing. Before soldering, slide the housing along with the rubber strain relief onto the cable where the plug is being installed.
  2. Preparing the cable: Remove the outer insulation from the cable for about 15-20 mm. Then remove the insulation from individual wires (approx. 3-5 mm) and tin them with solder using a soldering iron.
  3. Soldering the wires: Solder the cable wires to the appropriate plug terminals:
    • Tip: Left signal (or positive signal in a balanced connection).
    • Ring: Right signal (or negative signal in a balanced connection).
    • Sleeve: Ground (cable shield).
  4. Mechanical protection: After the solder has cooled down, clamp the metal wings of the plug onto the outer cable insulation. This will prevent the wires from being pulled out of the soldering points during operation.
  5. Final assembly: Slide the plastic housing onto the metal core of the plug and tighten firmly.

4 Safety Rules and Maintenance

Usage safety:

  • The plug is intended exclusively for transmitting low-voltage audio signals. Do not use it in AC 230V power supply installations.
  • Soldering should take place in a well-ventilated room to avoid inhaling solder fumes.
  • Exercise caution when working with a hot soldering iron to avoid burns or damage to the plastic plug housing.
  • The product contains small parts – keep it out of reach of children to avoid the risk of choking.

Maintenance:

  • Ensure the contact surfaces are clean. In case of tarnish, the contacts can be wiped with an isopropyl alcohol-based cleaner.
  • Regularly check that the plug housing is tightened firmly.
  • Avoid abrupt jerking of the cable – always disconnect the plug by holding its housing, not the cord.
