ACTii AC1076

1 Purpose and Functions

The ACTii AC1076 PC USB thermometer is an advanced temperature sensor designed for real-time thermal condition monitoring via a computer. The device is characterized by extremely high reading precision and a robust metal casing that ensures durability and protection of electronic components. Thanks to the included software, the user can not only track current readings but also configure warning systems and automatically archive measurement data.

Main features:

  • ✔ The thermometer provides temperature with very high accuracy of up to 0.01°C.
  • ✔ Comprehensive software displaying temperature readings with an alarm function.
  • ✔ Ability to automatically send email notifications with readings or in case of an alarm trigger.
  • ✔ SKYPE messenger integration – sending measurement data directly via the messenger.
  • ✔ Small size and solid construction in a sealed metal housing.
  • ✔ Possibility of outdoor operation after using a USB extension cable and properly protecting the connector from precipitation.
  • ✔ Plug and Play technology – no need to install additional drivers on Windows systems.
  • ✔ Innovative reading function: pressing CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK sends the result to any program (Excel, Notepad).

Application and Data Handling:

The device is ideal for use in server rooms, laboratories, greenhouses, and home monitoring. The included software allows for full personalization of the sensor operation:

  • Setting the temperature retrieval refresh interval.
  • Defining threshold temperature ranges (lower and upper limit).
  • Choosing the method of notification for exceeding standards: sound alarm, email, or Skype message.
  • Saving measurements to .txt or .csv files, which allows for easy analysis in spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel.

3 Installation and First Use

Device connection:

The device uses a standard USB interface. To start working, you must:

  1. Insert the thermometer into a free USB port on the computer. The operating system should automatically recognize the device as a standard input device (HID).
  2. Insert the included CD into the drive and install the dedicated sensor support software.
  3. Start the program to gain access to advanced monitoring and data logging functions.

Quick reading function (without software):

The thermometer has a unique data transmission function without needing an active program window. To use it:

  • Open any text editor (Notepad, Word) or spreadsheet (Excel).
  • Place the cursor in the field where you want the result to appear.
  • Press and hold the CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK key on the computer keyboard for approx. 1 second.
  • The device will automatically "type" the current temperature at the cursor location.

4 Alarm and Notification Configuration

Using the included application, the user can configure automatic system reactions to temperature changes:

Email and Skype Notifications:

In the program settings, you must provide SMTP server data (for email) or authorize the connection with the Skype application. Once the defined temperature threshold is exceeded, the program will send a warning message to the indicated address or contact.

Data Logging (Datalogger):

The program enables continuous recording of measurement history. You can define how many seconds/minutes the file saving should occur. CSV files are fully compatible with Excel, which allows for the generation of charts and periodic reports.

5 Safety Instructions and Maintenance

Important safety rules:

  • The device is powered by 5V from a USB port. Do not connect it to other power sources.
  • Despite the metal casing, the USB connector itself is not waterproof. In case of outdoor mounting, you must absolutely secure the USB plug against moisture, rain, and condensation.
  • Do not expose the device to temperatures outside the -40°C to +120°C range.
  • Protect from strong electromagnetic fields, which can interfere with measurement precision.
  • The device should be cleaned with a dry cloth. Do not use aggressive detergents or solvents.
  • Product compliant with CE and RoHS standards – do not dispose of with household waste, return to a collection point for electronic waste.
