ACTii AC2906

1 Purpose and Functions

The ACTii AC2906 foot control pedal is a professional foot-operated controller designed for the remote management of welding parameters for Sherman DIGITIG series welders. The device allows the operator to smoothly adjust the welding current in real time without the need to interrupt work or manually change settings on the welder panel. This is a solution particularly valued in the TIG method, where precise control over the weld pool and heat input is crucial for weld quality.

Main features:

  • ✔ Solid construction ensuring high resistance to mechanical damage in workshop conditions
  • ✔ High-quality control cable ensuring stable signal transmission without interference
  • ✔ Ergonomic design allowing for comfortable work even during long welding sessions
  • ✔ Precise return mechanism facilitating accurate arc power dosing
  • ✔ Full compatibility with Sherman DIGITIG 200GD and 315GD AC DC welder control systems

Device compatibility:

The pedal has been designed to work with the following device models:

  • Sherman DIGITIG 200GD AC DC
  • Sherman DIGITIG 315GD AC DC

3 Safety Instructions

Before using the control pedal, read the following safety rules to avoid the risk of electric shock or equipment damage:

  • Connection: The pedal must only be connected when the welder power supply is switched off.
  • Technical condition: Before each use, check the condition of the cable and the 5-pin plug. If you find abrasions, cuts, or other damage to the insulation, do not use the device.
  • Work environment: The device should be protected from direct contact with water, moisture, and oily substances, which may affect foot grip on the pedal or damage the electronic circuit.
  • Cable protection: The control cable should be routed in a way that prevents accidental stepping on it, running over it with a welding cart, or contact with hot welded elements.
  • Compatibility: Use the pedal only with compatible welder models listed in the specification. Connecting to other devices may cause permanent damage to the controller or welder.

4 Installation and Use

Connecting the device:

  1. Switch off the welder using the main switch.
  2. Locate the remote control socket on the front panel of the Sherman DIGITIG welder.
  3. Insert the 5-pin pedal plug into the socket, paying attention to the positioning notch (key).
  4. Tighten the locking ring on the plug to ensure a permanent connection and avoid accidental disconnection during operation.
  5. Switch on the welder and select the remote control mode on the device control panel (usually marked with a pedal icon or the text "Remote").

Operating principle:

The pedal has a dual function:

  • Arc initiation: A slight press of the pedal closes the start contacts and begins the welding process (arc ignition).
  • Current regulation: Further pressing of the pedal smoothly increases the welding current up to the maximum value set on the welder panel. Releasing the pressure causes a decrease in current, and fully releasing the pedal ends the welding process (arc extinguishing).

5 Maintenance and Storage

To ensure trouble-free operation of the device for a long time, observe the following recommendations:

  • After finishing work, clean the pedal of welding spatters, dust, and metallic particles using compressed air or a dry cloth.
  • Regularly check the tightness of the housing assembly screws.
  • Store the device in a dry place, away from aggressive chemical fumes.
  • During storage, avoid tight coiling of the cable, which could lead to kinking or breakage.
