Lenses for board cameras

Compact Board Lenses (M12 / S-Mount)

Board lenses, also known as S-Mount or M12 lenses (from the 12mm thread diameter), are small, compact lenses designed for direct mounting onto the camera's sensor board.

They are most commonly used in:

  • Dome cameras: Where small size is important.
  • Outdoor cameras with IR diodes: Many compact "bullet" cameras use this type of lens.
  • Miniature and hidden cameras: Due to their small dimensions.

Like larger lenses, various focal lengths are available (e.g., 2.8mm, 3.6mm, 6mm), which determine the camera's viewing angle. Many are also IR Corrected to ensure a sharp image both day and night.
